Frequently Asked Questions

Indian Rummy is a popular rummy game played with 2 Decks of Cards by a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 6 players per table. The main objective of the game is to stay in minimum points by dealing sets of cards to make sequence or set according to specified Rummy Rules. This is a draw and discard game.

Indian Rummy is played with two decks of cards with two picture Jokers. Card starting from Ace 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Jack Queen King will be in 4 suits i.e., Spade, Diamond, Club and Heart.

Ace can be used as 1 or a face card when making the sets, but it cannot be used both as 1 and face card simultaneously. All the cards have value of their face value and Ace, King, Queen & Jack have 10 points each.

Every player will have 13 cards and they have to make sequence (First/Second) and sets. First and Second Sequence (Life) or compulsory and the remaining can be either sets or sequences.

In Rummy game, Every player will have 13 cards in their hands. Apart from these thirteen cards there will be two piles. One is open pile and another is closed Deck of cards. On turn, every player has to take card from either pile and in its place one card has to be thrown away from their hands. This is called Draw and Discard.

After distributing 13 cards each players, one card from the remaining cards will be selected randomly and placed showing its face up below the Deck of cards. This is called Joker. There will be 2 Picture Jokers (One Black and One Red). All cards of the exact rank in any suit similar to the joker selected and placed below the Deck are considered as Jokers for that particular round.

A Joker is allowed to be used in place of any cards when forming a sequence or set. However, the player has to ensure that he has a pure sequence without a Joker card to be eligible to use the Joker in other places. If a player has no pre sequence, then there is no use of the joker except reducing some points as the jokers will attract no points.

When the Picture Joker is the open joker, all Aces are considered as jokers

There will be 2 Picture jokers and 7 cut jokers i.e., a total of 9 jokers in all.

A Table is the place where all the players are playing the cards game.

A Round is an event that starts with dealing the cards to each player, select the cut jokers, and ends with a player making a successful Show.
